WSI flights on sale

Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport’s (WSI) inaugural international tickets went on sale this week via Singapore Airlines.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey said it is an historic moment for everyone who has played a role in bringing WSI to life – Australia’s first international greenfield airport in more than 50 years.

“We mark a terrific milestone moment today with our first international airline partner, Skytrax certified 5-Star carrier Singapore Airlines, now giving passengers the first opportunity to book tickets from Western Sydney International Airport,” he said.

Singapore Airlines’ inaugural services from WSI will be a daily non-stop flight from 23 November 2026.

The service will depart Singapore at 11.30am (local time) and arrive at WSI at 10.20pm (local time).

It will provide a return service on the same day at 11.55pm and arrive in Singapore at 5.05am (local time) the following morning.

The daily services will operate on an Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, which features 303 seats in two cabin classes: 40 in business class and 263 in economy class.

Dai Haoyu, senior vice president marketing planning, Singapore Airlines, said the new services will deliver more choice and strengthen connectivity for the airline’s customers.

“Western Sydney’s late-night departure capacity will enable a seamless travel journey and connections through Singapore Changi Airport, to more than 130 global destinations served by the SIA Group.”

NSW Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper added: “This new offering is going to provide the world with direct access to one of the nation’s fastest growing visitor economies, and we look forward to welcoming the first international visitors into Western Sydney.”

“Today is a massive leap forward for Sydneysiders and their connection to the world,” ATIA CEO Dean Long added. “Singapore Airlines is one of the best aviation players with one of the best products in the sky, and this gives them wonderful access to Europe. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Western Sydney, the east or the north, your connectivity through to Asia and also Europe is now unparalleled.”

“The prices Singapore Airlines has on sale from 1pm today are extremely attractive. It gives you a safe way to Europe, even during the conflict that we’re experiencing today. New supply at lower prices at higher value means great outcomes for the Australian traveller and, importantly, for visitors to this great country.”

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) also welcomed the announcement, saying it believed the daily Singapore Airlines flights would unlock Western Sydney as a gateway to Asia and beyond for international events delegates.

“[This] reinforces Western Sydney International Airport’s role as a new international gateway, strengthening access to Sydney for business events, visitors and investment from key global markets,” said BESydney CEO, Amanda Lampe.

“Direct connections into Western Sydney will start to unlock new opportunities for conferences, corporate meetings and incentives, while supporting the region’s emerging precincts, jobs and visitor economy.

“This is an important step in building Western Sydney’s position as a competitive and compelling destination for international business events,” she added.
