Webjet names acting-CEO

As the search for a new CEO & MD for ASX-listed Webjet Group Limited continues, the company has released a statement naming an interim CEO, DAMIAN FRANCIS reports.

From June 1st, Layton Shannos will take on the role of acting-CEO after 12 years spent at the company in senior finance roles.

Shannos was chief financial officer of Webjet OTA before transitioning to group chief financial officer of the business following the demerger, a role he has held for the past two years.

In the statement, the Board wrote that it believed “Mr Shannos’ extensive experience with the Company and strong understanding of its operations and financial position will ensure continuity of leadership during the interim period.”

Prior to joining Webjet, Shannos spent over four years at KPMG as an assistant manager.

He is a chartered accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce as well as an MBA from Melbourne Business School.

According to the statement, the Board was progressing its search to secure a permanent successor for the CEO and MD role and would provide an update to the market in due course.

Former CEO Katrina Barry announced she would be stepping down from the role in March this year but would stay on to support the leadership transition and the completion of the company’s full year results in May 2026.
