Virgin Australia partners with Myer

VIRGIN Australia frequent flyer members can now use their points to shop online with Myer, thanks to a new partnership forged between the airline and the major retailer.

As part of the deal, Virgin Australia loyalty members who are also Myer One members will receive one Myer One credit for any Velocity Points they redeem.

Shoppers can select Velocity Points from the payment dropdown menu on Myer’s site, myer.com.au, when they go to purchase products across the retailer’s fashion, home, beauty and other categories.

A minimum redemption value of 3,000 points per transaction applies.

The agreement comes after several reciprocative deals announced by the airline over the past two years, including with brands like United Airlines, Qatar Airways, 7-Eleven and Medibank, with the aim of enhancing its loyalty program.

“We are incredibly focused on providing our members more ways to redeem points by unlocking new partnerships and rewards that have significant value and meaning to them,” Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO Nick Rohrlach said.

“As Australians face rising inflation, we know that value is more important than ever and our members will easily find impactful ways to use their Points online at Myer to stretch their dollar further,” he added.

After experiencing strong growth this year following the return of travel, the airline’s Velocity loyalty program now has almost 11 million members, which is the equivalent of one person in every Australian household on average now holding a Velocity Frequent Flyer membership.

According to Rohrlach, the impressive membership ranks is a reflection of the “depth, breadth and importance of the program to Australian consumers”.
