Travellers Choice agents bask in ‘ten-fold’ profit return

The member-owned agent network has reported a record profit and will enjoy significant financial returns, reports MATT LENNON.

Travellers Choice is celebrating a strong return on investment for its member agencies, today announcing a $3.2 million pre-tax operating profit for the 2023/24 financial year.

The result marks a 58% year-on-year profit jump, with more than 85% now set to be returned to members via a 6% unfranked dividend, or around 30 cents per share.

Member agencies will enjoy a ten-fold return, or around $30,000, on their membership fees, with the windfall bolstered by trading rebates based on sales generated for preferred partners.

Travellers Choice Managing Director Christian Hunter said the group’s strong result and low membership fees represented a strong return on investment.

“If you add into that equation the other financial benefits that members accrue throughout the year – including sales incentives, at-source commissions, discounted industry membership fees, consumer advertising and IT support – the average Travellers Choice member receives close to $50,000 in value – a 17-fold ROI,” Hunter enthused.

The company is forecasting another strong year in the 2024/25 financial year despite rising cost-of-living pressures potentially delivering a reduced demand for international travel.

Hunter added he was pleased members were now being rewarded after demonstrating “remarkable dedication and resilience” in recent years.
