Tourism WA appoints new Managing Director

Long-time hospitality professional Anneke Brown will take over the state's DMO.

TOURISM WA (TWA) has appointed a new Managing Director, highly experienced hospitality and hotel project manager Anneke Brown.

Brown will commence her five-year term 09 December, bringing with her 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector, including two years as TWA’s board Commissioner.

She has spent the past four years running her own consultancy, and serving on the board of the Rottnest Island Authority, before which she was General Manager of COMO The Treasury.

Anneke will be taking over as Managing Director from Steph Underwood, who has acted in the role since May 2024, when long-time MD Caroline Turnbull departed.

“We welcome the appointment of Anneke Brown as Managing Director, and look forward to working closely with her to further develop Western Australia’s growing tourism industry,” Chair Di Bain said.

“The Managing Director position is instrumental in marketing Western Australia as an incredible holiday and events destination and inspiring people to visit us from around Australia and the world.

“Anneke brings with her vital leadership experience and advanced knowledge of the hospitality industry which will only bolster the incredible work of Tourism WA in elevating the state as a desirable destination around the world.”
