Tour Amigo ready for expansion after new investment

The travel technology company has its sights set on taming foreign markets, writes MATT LENNON.

Software-as-a-service business Tour Amigo will release affordable and future-proofed B2B solutions for the travel sector following completion of a US$2 million seed funding round.

Led by Singapore-based venture capital firm, Wavemaker Partners, the seed round will fund further development of the company’s business, reservation and operational software aimed at multi-day group tour operators along with DMCs and FIT brands.

Tour Amigo has also flagged the strategic move of expanding into and better serve the competitive North American market following its new capital injection.

The latest funding follows the successful launch of Cruise Amigo, a solution which streamlines booking, planning and distribution for river cruise and expedition tour operators.

Tour Amigo CEO, Murray Decker, said the company’s rapid global growth is a testament to the strength of the product offering and the team.

“The funding will accelerate expansion into the North American market and support Tour Amigo’s growing enterprise clientele,” Decker said.

Wavemaker Partners General Partner, Andy Hwang, said Tour Amigo is aiming to transform the travel industry by addressing the fragmented and inefficient process of booking multi-day tours.

“Outdated booking and reservation systems often lack the integration capabilities to work seamlessly with various software providers, forcing operators to juggle multiple platforms and manual methods,” Hwang said.

“This leads to slow booking times, communication gaps between customers, suppliers, and agents, and limited customisation options.

“In just its first year, Tour Amigo has secured numerous clients with long-term commitments – we’re truly excited to back them as they set a new global standard for tour operations.”
