Social media giant TikTok has launched TikTok Go in the United States, allowing users over the age of 18 to book travel packages using videos, search results, and pages showcasing locations.
When users find a travel experience they want to pay for, they can view the details, check availability, and complete a booking in just a few simple steps, according to a statement from the company. TikTok has leveraged its partnerships with major brands like Booking.com, Expedia, Viator, GetYourGuide, Tiqets, and Trip. com to create TikTok Go.
The new service arrives as increasing evidence mounts about the power influencers are having over travel decisions, with a report last year from Expedia Group finding 73% of travellers from multiple markets have booked trips following endorsements from influencers.
Currently, the focus for TikTok Go is on hotels, attractions, and tours – all of which can be booked directly on the platform.
“Whether it’s visiting the Vatican or checking out a cooking class in Tokyo, we’re collapsing the time between inspiration and action,” TikTok said.
The company said there were also big opportunities for business partners to utilise the service, adding that merchants can connect with new audiences, drive bookings, and build stronger connections with the communities they serve.
No Australian rollout date has been announced.
