SILVERSEA is broadening its range of regional experiences on offer for Australian customers in future seasons as it seeks to “expand the backyard” of local cruise appetites.
Speaking with travelBulletin‘s sister publication Travel Daily this week, SVP and MD for APAC, Adam Radwanski, said after curating extensive itineraries in recent years exploring Australian waters, the time was right to plot co-ordinates a little wider to keep its cruise experiences fresh.
“Over the last few years, we had two ships in Australia (Moon and Nova) and this gave our loyal and new-to-brand customers a chance to experience the best of Australia,” he explained.
“The season finished with the biggest, most comprehensive Grand Voyage of Australia, it was 47 days long and nobody had done it [like us] before.
“So now we feel [Silversea] has covered all corners of Australia – from the smallest ports to the main ones – we want to offer Australians something different and expand their backyard.”
For the next two seasons, the luxury cruise line will have one fewer ship homeported in local waters in Silver Moon, but Radwanski believes it will open up the opportunity to explore more in our region in places like French Polynesia and Japan.
“You know how you renovate your house and try to make more space, well, we are trying to make more space for Aussies,” he said.
Radwanski confirmed that Japan is becoming a major focus for Silversea, with the recently refurbished Silver Muse offering an upcoming Japan season in the northern summer, a time of the year that no other ultra-luxury cruise line is offering.
“The food in Japan is incredible and very much aligned with our value proposition and it really is one of those destinations that allows the Silversea brand to shine,” Radwanski said.
