Rayner to lead new TAG sports division

The new hire has pulled the strings on some of the biggest sports events of the past 10 years.

The Appointments Group (TAG) has nominated Troy Rayner to lead its new sports division, which will aim to position the company as a dominant force in sports travel management.

Rayner is a seasoned professional with a 17-year career in the travel industry, including extensive experience in retail and corporate, as well as sports and entertainment travel.

Over the past decade, Rayner has shifted his focus exclusively to the sports and entertainment industries, partnering with renowned organisations, including Football Australia, SANZAAR, Cricket Australia, AusCycling, Bowls Australia and Motorsport Australia.

Rayner has played an integral role in some of the biggest events in sport, with notable highlights including his role as Head of Operations for the Travel Management Company during the 2015 Asian Cup Football, contributing to the success of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, elevating the 2020 T20 Women’s Cricket World Cup and the 2022 T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

He will be instrumental in fostering strong connections and firmly establishing TAG as a prominent presence in the sports travel landscape, the company said.
