Qatar Airways Qsuite – WOW!

JENNY PIPER reports on her recent Qatar Airways flight from Australia to Doha.

I may never be able to go back.

I have just experienced the Qatar Airways Qsuite on a flight from Brisbane to Doha. WOW is all I can say. Having travelled a fair bit in 2023 in many different Business class cabins (yes, I know I am spoilt!), the Qatar Airways product is streets ahead of other offerings for those travelling to the Middle East and beyond.

The Qsuite Business class seat is spacious and comfortable and comprises a layout that includes the main seat and side seat sitting area, with a closing door for privacy – a bit of game changer. There’s plenty of room to stretch out, whether it be the main seat or across the seat and side seat (that’s if you are short like me).

Seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 pattern so all guests have aisle access, with the odd-numbered rows facing backwards. The seats in the middle section are closer together, allowing for what could be double beds for couples or an enclave for families. The seats recline to a full lie-flat bed, with flight attendants putting down a mattress pad for extra comfort, and a large and small pillow as well as a plush quilt.

Storage is imperative for me when I travel – for my book, phone, etc. There is plenty of storage with an under-bench shelf, as well as a storage section under the side seat. With a large screen for entertainment and universal power ports and USB outlets, everything is easily at hand. The entertainment has a vast variety of options, in several languages, with the latest movies, lots of TV shows and box sets. Although I’m not a big watcher of movies and TV, I managed to find some great shows to keep me occupied when I wasn’t enjoying a good sleep!

Amenities are from the Parisian parfumier Diptyque with a signature fragrance for Qatar Airways products, which come in a bespoke gift box along with body and face care products. Other basics such as toothbrushes are available in the bathrooms. And to make the experience complete, Qsuite passengers receive comfy PJs and slippers from the White Company.

Service was impeccable, with staff going out of their way to make sure everything was okay. They appeared promptly and always with a smile when called. The food and beverage offerings were excellent, with a glass of champagne offered pre flight. On my flight the meals were served on demand, rather than a designated meal service, with a variety of delicious offerings to suit all tastes. And if you got peckish during the long flight, light snacks were also available on request.

In summary, this was an amazing product and I am going to find it difficult to go back to the average Business class offering.

Does Qatar QSuite deserve the claim of the World’s Best Business Class? My vote is a resounding YES.
