Qatar adds airline veteran to Australian fold

Wayne Borland will take responsibility for eastern Australia. Myles Stedman reports.

QATAR Airways has expanded its executive team with the appointment of Wayne Borland as manager for eastern Australia.

Borland will bring more than 25 years of experience in the airline industry to Qatar, adding exceptional knowledge to the local team.

He brings experience from airlines including Etihad Airways, Aircalin, Air New Zealand, and American Airlines, where he worked in a variety of management, sales, and business development positions.


Borland also has broad industry experience at companies including CWT and Movenpick Hotels & Resorts.


“I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious airline and look forward to being part of Qatar Airways’ ongoing growth in Australia,” Borland said.

“I have been fortunate enough to have lived and worked in Sydney and Melbourne, London, Riyadh, Los Angeles, Jakarta and Beijing during my career, allowing me to gain an international perspective of the travel industry.”

Regional Manager Australia Justin Kestel said Qatar is thrilled to welcome Borland to the team, which is excited about the wealth of knowledge he will bring.

“Wayne’s extensive experience in driving airline commercial sales and expanding market presence will contribute to our strategic goals,” he added.
