QANTAS Group has announced a number of changes to its senior management team, as CEO Alan Joyce prepares to pass the leadership baton to Vanessa Hudson in September.
Rob Marcolina, who is currently Qantas Group Executive of Strategy, People and Technology, will take over Hudson’s current position as Chief Financial Officer.
Following Andrew David’s retirement in September, Markus Svensson will take on the role of CEO of Domestic, while Executive Manager of Qantas Freight Catriona Larritt will assume the newly created role of Chief Customer & Digital Officer.
The Group also announced the creation of a Chief Risk Officer position, which will be assumed by current Executive Manager of Safety Andrew Monaghan, who has been with the company for 17 years.
Additionally, the carrier is seeking someone to fill the newly created role of Chief People Officer, as well as looking for a new QantasLink CEO to replace John Gissing, who is set to retire in November.
“The structural changes announced today are about increasing our focus on a few key areas as we move from recovery to growth, especially when it comes to things that matter most to our people and our customers.” incoming CEO Vanessa Hudson said.
Qantas Group will begin transitioning to the new leadership structure from July onwards, with the changes to be fully in effect by November 2023.
MEANWHILE, the Flying Kangaroo has extended its Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP) trade incentive program, with trans-Tasman fares to be discounted to levels below all other booking systems.
From 29 August, Australian and New Zealand-based travel agents will be able to take advantage of cheaper trans-Tasman fares by up to 5% when they use the QDP, in an effort to attract more travel sellers to the airline’s own airfares booking ecosystem.
“We’ve continued to invest in and modernise our distribution capabilities to the highest industry standards and we’re committed to providing agents with richer content so they can better serve our mutual customers,” Qantas Executive Manager of Global Sales and Distribution Igor Kwiatkowski said.
