Polestar 2 skids into town

Hertz is moving into electric vehicles in a big way, this week confirming details of the rollout of its new Polestar 2 fleet across Australia.

Hertz Australia this week moved to bolster its eclectic vehicle (EV) credentials in Australia by adding the in-demand Polestar 2 to its local fleet.

Available to book in Australia’s capital cities, the five-door liftback vehicle will be rolled our across its entire local retails network over the coming 12 months following a global partnership with Volvo earlier this year, which saw Hertz agree to purchase up to 65,000 vehicles over the five years.

The swanky new EV adds to Hertz’s growing list of green rental car options for travellers, and is bound to impress discerning drivers who want the comfort of an avant-garde Scandinavian design and an advanced infotainment system, with future variants event tipped to come with their own in-built drone to follow the vehicle while it bombs along the highway.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Polestar to bring an exciting premium EV to the Australian market, providing customers the opportunity to drive the latest in automotive technology while expanding our range of eco-conscious options within our fleet,” Hertz Vice President APAC Eoin Macneill said.

“Hertz is committed to setting the standard for the future of mobility, electrification, and a digital-first customer experience, by growing our EV fleet while providing the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers.”

The news follows a range of state and territory EV charging network expansions, including plans this week to build 140 sites in SA and 98 in Western Australia.
