Link recruits future industry leaders

Link Travel Group is seeking out the next generation of industry leaders after partnering with the Flight Centre Travel Academy to establish a new recruitment initiative.

THE initiative aims to attract and train up-and-coming travel advisors under a two-year internship within Link Travel Group member agencies. Candidates will split their time 50/50 between working and studying to earn a Diploma of Travel & Tourism, as well as secure a role within a Link Travel Group agency.

According to the Link Travel Group’s General Manager, Scott Darlow, the new training initiative will help solve the staff recruitment and retention “headache” that has been troubling the industry since COVID.

“Feedback from our member agencies has been very encouraging and nearly all have put their hands up to participate in this internship program,” Darlow said.

Group members will be able to hand-select candidates from cities all across Australia, who they can train into high-performing travel professionals who are “aligned with their existing agency objectives”, while the candidates will benefit from on-the-job experience as well as attaining a degree.

Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT), The Goldman Group and Spencer Group of Companies teamed up to launch Link Travel Group in May of this year, and have since built the company’s membership to include a number of premium and business travel agencies, including Travelcall and SmartFlyer.

Director Anthony Goldman said, “Industry leadership is one of the core pillars of Link Travel Group and this internship program is exactly that”.

“As an agency owner myself and a Director of Link, I can’t wait to welcome highly motivated, enthusiastic candidates into Goldman Group offices around the country and I’m excited about the prospect of watching their development into the future.”
