The decision has streamlined the group’s portfolio of tourism assets into three divisions: rail & touring, resorts & lodges, and experiences & attractions.
Voyages Tourism Australia CEO Matt Cameron-Smith has been appointed chief commercial officer for Journey Beyond under the reshaping, where he will oversee commercial and revenue strategy across the company’s entire portfolio.
Meanwhile, David Donald has been promoted to managing director – rail & touring, after six years leading the rail business.
In his new remit, Donald is charged with overseeing the growth of an expanded division that brings together the group’s rail brands like The Ghan in addition to its touring brands.
Key to this will be integrating operators Outback Spirit and Grand Pacific Tours to deliver seamless, multi-day journeys.
The resorts & lodges division includes the Ayers Rock Resort, the eco-luxury Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef, and Monarto Safari Resort, while experiences & attractions will look after a unified ecosystem of day travel experiences from Journey Beyond’s various marine and aviation tourism brands.
Recruitment is currently underway to appoint an managing director for both of these divisions.
The major restructure follows the departure of COO Sture Myrmell in March, who exited to lead Aroya Cruises.
