FORMER Wendy Wu Tours Global Group CEO Joe Karbo says he’s thrilled to be back in Australia, after stepping down from his most recent UK-based role in December. Karbo was Chief Operating Officer of one of Britain’s largest travel agencies, Moresand Travel, but before Christmas announced his intention to head home.
He’s this week popped up in the local industry, having taken a role as Chief Executive Officer of Mediterranean specialist Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre (GMTC). “I am delighted to be at Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre, a 20-year established brand, working again with our Australian trade partners”.
Karbo will work alongside GMTC founder Halina Kubica, to whom he paid tribute as having built the business into the “Australian wholesale leader to the Mediterranean”.
Kubica said Karbo was joining the business as it experiences a significant uplift, with sales for some destinations including Greece already exceeding pre-pandemic levels. “Having someone of his calibre come on board at this time will only enhance our growth and expansion plans,” she enthused.
Along with Greece, GMTC offers a wide range of product to other key Mediterranean and Arabian destinations including Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Israel.
