Marrott International has promoted veteran executive Jason Nuell to succeed the retired Sean Hunt as its new Area Vice President for Australia, New Zealand & Pacific.

A 20-year Marriott stalwart, Nuell has most recently been based in Singapore as the company’s Vice-President of Customer Experience & F&B Design Services for the Asia Pacific region.

His first role with the company was in 2003 when he joined as Director of Food and Beverage at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort, which is now JW Marriott Resort and Spa Gold Coast.

Nuell is also a former winner of Marriott International’s Global General Manager of the Year award, won while overseeing the Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa.

Further achievements include leading the strategy and activation process for 30 company brands as the head of Marriott’s Asia-Pacific Brand Team.

His new role has seen him return home to Australia to oversee the financial performance of 46 hotels, and a further 20 pipeline properties across the region.

Nuell has held several senior corporate and market leadership positions at Marriott International in his time with the company, working in locations across Asia, China, India, the US and Europe.
