Delta to introduce free wi-fi

The airline is set to become the first American carrier to provide internet access for free.

DELTA Air Lines is introducing free onboard wi-fi, becoming the first major American carrier to do so.

The fast, free wi-fi is being introduced in partnership with T-Mobile, and will come to most domestic mainline aircraft in the fleet by next month.

The service will be fully available on international and regional aircraft by the end of next year.

Customers will log in using their Delta SkyMiles account, which for new clients, can be created both on the ground and in the air.

The news was announced by Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week.

“At work, at home, and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different,” Bastian said at the announcement.

“We didn’t just want free wi-fi to offer base-level service – we wanted it to be transformative for the entire onboard experience.

“Our vision has long been to deliver an experience at 30,000 feet that feels similar to what our customers have available on the ground.”
