Crystalbrook Collection plots its next move in Canberra

The sustainability-minded hotel brand continues to broaden its network into new cities, with the nation’s capital next, reports MATT LENNON.

Environmentally conscious accommodation brand Crystalbrook Collection will open its newest property in Canberra, with construction now underway at the site, set for opening in 2027.

The hotel will be named Crystalbrook Aurora, a title inspired by the promise of a new dawn in Canberra’s hospitality landscape and a nod to the name once considered for the city itself.

The 10-storey newbuild will feature 225 rooms and suites, a European-style rooftop restaurant, along with ground-floor dining, retail, meeting and event space, and a wellness precinct that includes Crystalbrook’s Eleme spa brand, a pool, sauna and fitness centre.

Guests at Crystalbrook Aurora can expect the brand’s strong environmental credentials to be on full display, including 100% waste-free bathrooms, recycled timber key cards, coat hangers and much more.

The new property will contribute to the brand’s group-wide targets on emissions, energy, water and waste management, all in line with strict EarthCheck benchmarks.

“As we continue to expand Crystalbrook Collection’s national footprint, Canberra represents both a strategic investment and an opportunity to help shape the next era of Australian hospitality,” said Crystalbrook Collection CEO, Geoff York.

Crystalbrook Aurora is the latest addition to the brand’s expanding presence in Australian cities, with construction also underway in Adelaide for *Crystalbrook Sam*, which is set to open in 2026.

“Crystalbrook Aurora’s identity reveal and development progress marks an exciting next chapter in our Canberra journey,” said Crystalbrook Collection founder and owner, Ghassan Aboud.

“This project reflects our commitment to investing in high-growth, culturally significant locations and delivering properties that reflect the future of responsible luxury.”
