Launching early 2026, the partnership will boost CZ’s network coverage in Oceania, allowing passengers to travel to Australian cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin, from which they can access 17 destinations in Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand.
“Going forward, CZ and VA will continue to explore new opportunities for international cooperation, unlocking more appealing destinations for our passengers,” Zhang Dongsheng, CZ’s Deputy Director General of the Commercial Steering Committee, said.
Meanwhile, Alistair Hartley, VA’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, noted the importance of the fast-growing China tourism market for Australia.
“This partnership will open up more opportunities for visitors arriving on China Southern’s services to effectively connect across the Virgin Australia network” he said.
It is VA’s first codeshare agreement with a Chinese carrier since Bain bought it in 2020.
