CATO reveals new board members

THE Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) has revealed the results of its recent board elections, which sees it welcome four industry leaders to the board to begin their two-year terms.

Martin Edwards, co-founder and Chief Exploration Officer at the Explorer Society, is among the newly elected, along with Intrepid Travel Group’s General Manager – Sales and Partnerships ANZ, Yvette Thompson, who also adds a fresh face to the CATO board.

The two newcomers join The Travel Corporation Australia’s James O’Donnell and Julie King of Julie King & Associates, who have been re-elected to the board.

The newly elected members will take a seat alongside the re-elected Chair, Dennis Bunnik, and other established board members, including Crooked Compass’ Lisa Pagotto, Sundowners Overland’s Liz Anderson, Entire Travel Group’s Brad McDonnell, G Adventures’ Sean Martin, and Pointon Partners Lawyers’ Aaron Zoanetti.

“We would like to take this opportunity to also acknowledge candidates that were not successful on this occasion; Chad Carey, Managing Director, Chimu Adventures and Ingrid Berthelsen, Joint CEO of Evolution Travel Collective,” CATO Managing Director Brett Jardine said.

“We are truly delighted to witness such a strong interest from our membership to participate in the CATO Board, a testament to the Board’s outstanding credibility and accomplishments.

“CATO remains steadfast in its commitment to serving its members, confident that the fresh perspectives of the newly elected board members will further enhance the organisation’s strategic initiatives,” Jardine concluded.
