CATO International Women’s Day Luncheon

THE travel industry came together in Sydney on Thursday for CATO’s inaugural International Women’s Day luncheon, under the theme ‘Embrace Equity’.

Attendees heard a powerful keynote address from travelBulletin‘s own Hoda Alzubaidi, which described her inspiring life story and her journey into the travel sector.

Alzubaidi spoke about the importance of tourism to women around the globe, and later reflecting on her speech, said it was a great opportunity to discuss important issues.

“If we don’t speak about these things there will always be racism and there will always be people who don’t understand that tourism actually plays such a critical role in developing countries, and this is why I’m here today,” she commented.

The luncheon also included a panel of female leaders from across the association’s membership, including APT Travel Group’s Lou Tandy, Sue Badyari of World Expeditions, Gai Tyrell from Globus, The Travel Corporation’s Toni Ambler, and Evolution Travel Collective’s Ingrid Berthelsen.

The event was emceed by Australian journalist and magazine editor, Julia Zaetta, who also shared her own stories of travel throughout the day.
