TRAVEL agents will be the only non-direct way for Australian travellers to book with Bonza, after the startup Aussie airline announced the launch of its first-ever agent portal.
After initially championing its unique “app first” booking approach, the low-cost carrier admitted on Thursday that travel agents are “the heartbeat of the community”.
“The importance and value of local travel agents shouldn’t be understated, especially in recent times,” Chief Commercial Officer Carly Povey said.
“We fully understand some customers will prefer to book through a friendly and trusted face at a local travel agency and we want to support the travel trade community by investing in this portal.”
Agents will need to share client contact details with the airline for the purpose of communicating any flight changes or delays, as well as ensure their clients download the Fly Bonza app, which will allow them to check-in and order food and drinks while travelling.
The low-cost carrier is preparing to service 27 routes across 17 destinations, with Povey saying “by helping agents get clients from A to B without the C (cost and complexity) we hope to encourage more Aussies to explore their backyard”.
