Bonza adds a splash of purple to the Red Centre

BONZA has announced its debut in the Northern Territory, with 12 new weekly flights to bring 116,000 seats per year to the Top End and Red Centre combined. The Aussie carrier is set to introduce three new routes, Sunshine Coast to Darwin, Gold Coast to Darwin and Melbourne to Alice Springs, delivering a major boost for domestic tourism.

The services were secured by the Northern Territory Government’s Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme, which Bonza boss Tim Jordan commended as a “game-changing move” that will open up “more affordable travel options for Territorians to leisure destinations”.

“Visitors from the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast can now fly direct to the Top End without transferring through a major city airport. The people of Melbourne can now access Alice Springs without it breaking the bank,” Jordan shared.

“The news today also gives Territorians the opportunity to visit loved ones or holiday in SE Queensland, Melbourne and surrounds. Our team of legends look forward to connecting Territorians to loved ones in time for Christmas this year.”

NT Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Nicole Manison also expressed her enthusiasm over the announcement, stating that Bonza’s arrival into the territory was a “huge coup for Territorians”, with the flights expected to “create jobs, increase visitor numbers, and improve consumer choice and airfare competition for locals and visitors alike”.

The flights are on sale now via the Bonza app, with the Sunshine Coast-Darwin route priced from $149pp (one way) taking off on 29 November; Gold Coast-Darwin also priced from $149pp (one way) launching on 01 December; and Melbourne-Alice Springs starting from $139pp (one way), which gets wheels up on 12 December.
