ATIA welcomes James Hewlett on board

The former Collette marketing exec has been tasked with boosting the association's corporate engagement, Janie Medbury writes.

THE well-known travel marketing expert and founder Endurance Marketing and Consulting will also be responsible for overseeing the rollout of the Australian Travel Industry Association’s (ATIA) individual membership program.

Hewlett, who was the Marketing Chief at Collette for seven years until his departure in October 2023, brings plenty of experience to the role, including stints at Wendy Wu Tours, Titan Travel, and Hurtigruten.

Chief Executive Dean Long said he was delighted to welcome Hewlett to the team, adding “his extensive background in marketing, complemented by his deep understanding of the travel industry, further deepens the ATIA team’s capacity especially as we entrench the corporate and individual membership offerings”.

“Ensuring the ATIA team has voices that have experiences from across our members is critical to the continuous improvement we are committed to delivering for our members,” he added.

Based in Sydney, Hewlett also currently serves on the executive team at Visit USA, and volunteers as a mentor for final year tourism students at the University of Surrey.

Speaking on his new appointment at ATIA, he enthused, “it’s exciting times for ATIA and I’m delighted to contribute to the hugely talented team who are bringing new initiatives to the industry”.
