ATAS focus of News Corp NTIA competition

THE Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA)  has formed a new partnership with News Corp Australia that will see its major travel brand Escape shine a light on the importance of ATAS accreditation.

A competition is now running on the Escape travel platform, calling on readers to put forward their favourite ATAS-accredited travel agency for an award to be announced at the upcoming NTIAs, describing their virtues in 100 words or less.

The comp is being featured online at and in the Escape lift-out in News Corp’s weekend newspapers this Sunday, with entrants in the running to win major prizes, including two return Economy class tickets on Singapore Airlines (SIA) for travel from any Australian city served by the carrier, a cruise for two people with Royal Caribbean, as well as return Economy flights with Virgin Australia.

“News Corp Australia has long been a staunch supporter of Australia’s travel sector, and especially since March 2020 when their editorial, including in local community mastheads, helped spotlight the immense pressures Australia’s travel professionals were struggling with as we supported Aussie travellers impacted by COVID-impacted
travel and cancellations,” AFTA CEO Dean Long said.

“AFTA and Australia’s travel sector are delighted and extremely grateful for News Corp Australia’s on-going support including now as we rebuild.

“As more and more Australians start travelling again, we need to promote the importance of choosing ATAS-accredited travel businesses.”

The NTIAs will take place on 15 October.
