KATHRYN O’Brien has been announced as Air New Zealand’s new General Manager Australia.
With more than 20 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industries, O’Brien joins Air NZ from Experience Co, where she was the company’s Chief Commercial Officer.
She will start with NZ in February, with General Manager Short Haul Jeremy O’Brien welcoming the experienced executive to the team.
“This is a pivotal leadership appointment and I’m excited by the skills that Kathryn will add to our already strong Australia leadership group across Commercial, Customer and Airports,” he said.
Kathryn has a wealth of knowledge with over 20 years Sales & Marketing experience within the Tourism & Hospitality industry predominantly within the hotel sector, and most recently with activities and experiences.

As well as welcoming the incoming Australia GM, O’Brien also thanked Michael Zorbas, who led the region while Air NZ conducted its talent search.
“Australia is an incredibly important market to the airline and continues to be a high performing region in our global network,” he said.
“The fact the region has continued to be a standout performer as part of the international restart is in no small part due to the experienced leadership “Zorby” has provided alongside our strong in market leadership group.”
