Agents are too stretched

New research uncovers factors contributing to advisors' rising stress levels, ADAM BISHOP writes.

Mounting pressures facing travel advisors across Australia and New Zealand are placing many under serious strain when it comes to operating their businesses effectively.

The finding was revealed in a new survey of 600 advisors conducted by Destination Webinars, which laid bare a growing list of concerns that are adding stress and complexity to the operating environment.

These include increased competition from online and direct channels, airline and NDC frustrations, the pace of technology change, and shifting client expectations.

“Agents are telling us loud and clear that they are stretched, are juggling too much, and need support that respects their time,” said Charlie Trevena (pictured), founder of Destination Webinars.

“This research validates what we’ve been hearing anecdotally, the industry is stretched beyond capacity, and advisors need training that is practical, concise, and genuinely useful.”

Trevena – who is also the host of the podcast Travel Agent Takeaways – added that “high-impact” learning was needed to combat this heightened level of stress experienced by the sector.

Webinars and podcasts are one of the ways in which this key education can be transmitted, the findings showed.

“Advisors are hungry for clarity, support, and practical insights, and also they prefer concise, high-quality updates and practical takeaways that support real client convos,” the report said.
