AFTA receives record NTIA nominations

THE National Travel Industry Awards (NTIAs) is set to be a big one this year, with AFTA receiving a record number of nominations from across the industry in less than two weeks.

With just a few days until nominations close, the industry is collectively anticipating the prestigious event, which will take place at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium on 18 November.

This year’s award ceremony will mark the first time in 20 years that the event has been held outside of Sydney, and also sees a refreshed structure thanks to the introduction of the NTIA Custodians.

Appointed in March, the seven industry representatives were tasked with overseeing the continued success of the NTIAs. Their expertise has led to significant changes in how the awards are structured, with only peer nominations being accepted this year.

AFTA CEO Dean Long said he is elated at the interest being shown in this year’s NTIAs, revealing that 740 nominations have been submitted so far.

“With 1,200 travel professionals descending on Melbourne in November it will be our chance to celebrate and recognise the people and businesses that make our industry great,” he beamed.

Individuals, suppliers and ATAS-accredited businesses can still be nominated at afta.com.au before 5pm AEST Friday 14 July.

Those who have been nominated will be contacted by email later this month to confirm their eligibility and acceptance into the stated category, with successful nominees to be announced mid-August.
