AC and EK collaborate

Air Canada and Emirates will establish a codeshare relationship later in the year that will offer travellers of both airlines a wider range of flight options between the United Arab Emirates and Canada.

AIR Canada and Emirates will establish a codeshare relationship later in the year that will offer travellers of both airlines a wider range of flight options between the United Arab Emirates and Canada.

Under the terms of the deal, Emirates customers travelling to Toronto and other select destinations across the Air Canada network will be able to book connecting travel between both airlines’ networks via a single ticket, offering seamless connectivity at the carriers’ respective global hubs and baggage transfers to travellers’ final destinations. Meanwhile Air Canada customers will also gain additional options when travelling between Canada and the United Arab Emirates, as well as destinations beyond Dubai.

But flight connections will be just part of the picture, with the establishment of reciprocal frequent flyer benefits and reciprocal lounge access for qualifying customers also on the cards, with further details of the partnership and specific codeshare routes to be announced in due course once regulatory approvals have been granted.

“As we continue pursuing our strategy of expanding our global reach in response to growing opportunities in VFR markets (Visiting Friends and Relatives) that serve Canada’s large multicultural communities, we are very pleased to form a strategic partnership with Emirates, a highly respected flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates with a hub in the vibrant city of Dubai,” Air Canada’s CEO and President Michael Rousseau said, while Emirates chief Tim Clark declared the tie-up a “significant partnership” that will enable his airline’s customers access to even more destinations in Canada and the Americas, via our Toronto and US gateways.
