CLIA View for September

As CLIA and our cruise lines have fought for cruising’s revival in this region, our partnerships with supporters like the ACA and Tourism Australia are now stronger than ever, and we’re pleased to be heading into summer with a vibrant and optimistic cruise community supporting us.

Cruise Month is back!

Cruise Month has returned to Australia, helping to celebrate cruising’s resumption and the fantastic summer season ahead of us.

More than 20 CLIA cruise lines will operate in Australasian waters between now and the end of April, bringing dozens of ships to every coastal state and territory and millions of dollars in economic opportunities for local communities.

CLIA’s Cruise Month initiative is running throughout September to help harness the excitement around this revival and highlight the benefits of booking through a CLIA cruise specialist travel agent.

Under a new theme of #LoveCruise, it puts the spotlight on cruising through cruise line promotions, newspaper travel features, social media campaigns, travel agent initiatives and a consumer competition.

As interest around Cruise Month grows, CLIA is delighted to have partnered with the Australian Cruise Association (ACA) and Tourism Australia to produce a new video highlighting the enormous economic contribution cruise tourism makes.

This video was launched earlier this month by Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison at the ACA Annual Conference in Townsville, and highlights some of the many businesses that benefit from cruise tourism in different parts of the country. You can view the video below (or click HERE), the first of several activities Tourism Australia is planning as we promote cruising down under.

As CLIA and our cruise lines have fought for cruising’s revival in this region, our partnerships with supporters like the ACA and Tourism Australia are now stronger than ever, and we’re pleased to be heading into summer with a vibrant and optimistic cruise community supporting us.

Nowhere has this optimism been more apparent than at CLIA’s Cruise360 Australasia conference last month, where we had a fantastic chance to reunite with our travel agent members, celebrate our resilience and focus on the opportunities ahead. The mood was incredible, and we’re looking forward to yet more enthusiasm around cruising over the months ahead.
