All systems go for NTIA 2011 as sponsors rush to sign up

AFTA staff say they are at an advanced stage of planning for next year’s AFTA National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) scheduled for The Westin, Sydney on Saturday July 9, 2011.

Last year’s awards – with the addition of several new categories and the “Afta Party” following the official awards dinner – were hailed as “the best yet” and firmly cemented the night as the peak event of the Australian travel industry calendar. But AFTA marketing and communications manager Melinda Brown says the aim in 2011 is to surpass the 2010 effort.

Even before the awards’ sponsorship prospectus was released, more than 80 per cent of the 2010 sponsors had renewed their commitment for the 2011 event.

They included Qantas which has once again committed as major sponsor. They also include Singapore Airlines, which will continue as sponsor of the “Afta Party” and Sabre Pacific, which will again sponsor Jules Lund from the Nine Network’s "Getaway" as the MC for the evening.

Both media sponsors have also renewed their long-standing association with the NTIAs – Travel Daily as electronic media sponsor and travelBulletin as the proud print media sponsor.

Speaking in early December, Brown said there are only three award categories remaining for sponsorship.
The imminent announcement of a new agency category – which AFTA was keeping under wraps at presstime – will present another opportunity.

Two new sponsors in 2011 are Cox & Kings and Excite Holidays and those renewing their association with the awards include:

Gold: AA Appointments, Avis, Complete Cruise Solution, Qantas Staff Credit Union, Royal Caribbean International and South African Airways.

Silver: Air Tickets, Amadeus, Consolidated Travel, Covermore Travel Insurance, Cox & Kings, Excite Holidays, Galileo Travelport, Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers, Star Alliance, Sultanate of Oman Tourism, The Travel Corporation, The Travel Doctor TMVC, Tramada and Virgin Atlantic.
