THE West Australian Government and Tourism WA have been hard at work securing deals with airlines in an effort to lure more visitors to the state. The tourism board has teamed up with Singapore Airlines for a $5m marketing agreement to promote holidays to the state and AirAsia X for a $1m deal.

Under the $5 million three-year agreement, Singapore Airlines and Tourism WA will jointly fund marketing campaigns to promote travel to Western Australia in 10 key international markets by way of Singapore Airlines’ services to Perth.

The Air Asia X tie-up will target people in Malaysia, India, China and Japan and will see joint marketing campaigns developed to promote flights to Western Australia including flight deals, and print, television, radio, cinema and online advertising.

Both agreements form part of the $12 million international marketing boost announced in March to grow the number of people visiting WA from overseas.
