BEYOND the Bayou has announced its Ultimate Cajun County Adventure, exploring the swamp at Lake Martin Wildlife Refuge with a naturalist guide. Guests can also take Cajun cooking lessons with a private chef, bust a move at a local zydeco dancehall and visit a zydeco music studio, kayak on Bayou Teche, partake in a seafood boll with a private chef and sample an array of Louisiana cocktails and cuisine. The itinerary also offers tours to America’s first slavery museum, the Whitney Plantation; the Tabasco factory and a pecan farm. Starting from US$1,899 per person, the tour travels for four days, staying in either an 1800s bed & breakfast or a lakeside cottage.

“The mission of our Louisiana tours is to promote education and conservation, not only of the local ecosystems but of the culture and traditions that make Southern Louisiana so unique,” said Beyond the Bayou founder Jared Sternberg.

Beyond the Bayou also offers day trips to New Orleans and the surrounding area, offering guests the ability to paddle the region’s scenic swamps with naturalist guides, tour a historic sugar plantation, explore the Treme neighbourhood and learn about Creole history and culture.
