“Land of smiles”. With friendly people, great food, and amazing scenery, Thailand has something to offer every traveller. Beautiful beaches, bargain shopping and a range of cultural experiences make it a destination to be visited more than once.

Upon arrival in Bangkok we were whisked into town to our first stunning Banyan Tree property, where we were truly spoiled with rooms on the Club level — lounge access included, thanks very much! After an afternoon rice-barge tour along the canals and klongs of Bangkok, it was time for a highlight, dinner at Vertigo, the hotel’s own rooftop restaurant on the 61st floor!

Off to Phuket the following day, and to the Banyan Tree Phuket. Situated in the manicured Laguna complex, this all-villa property offers elegance and serenity in its public areas, and each villa has its own plunge pool. This rock-star lifestyle is definitely for me!

A half-day cooking class was an interesting and fun way to learn a little about Thai cuisine, and best of all you get to eat the results. The following day was spent kayaking around the islands of Phang Nha Bay, through sea caves and open areas in the middle of the islands — an awesome experience! Then sadly, time to head homeward, after a full few days. Can’t wait to visit again!
