ADVENTURE cycling company Ride & Seek has launched a new active bike experience that traverses the north and south islands of New Zealand.

The 24-day Maori New Zealand Cycling Adventure leads intrepid travellers on a 2,000km+ bike ride from Auckland to Queenstown tracing the journey of the Maori people who arrived on the north island 700 years ago. The route takes in the thermal scenery of Rotorua, the volcanic land of the Tongariro National Park, made famous by the Lord of the Rings movies, as well as the Southern Alps.

Cyclists will also have the chance to wind down at the end of each day at a range of hand-picked hotels and lodges, while sampling a selection of local seafood, coffee and wine.

The tour is broken into two stages: Auckland to Wellington and Wellington to Queenstown, with departures slated for 8 February 2020.
