AUSTRALIA’S efforts to broaden its cruise appeal in regional areas received a shot in the arm last month when the Port of Eden on NSW’s south coast completed a $44 million expansion of its cruise facilities.
The port will now be able to accommodate larger ships of up to 325 metres in length, with cruise lines visiting Eden no longer needing to bring passengers ashore by tender boats.
Commenting on the upgrade, CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said investments like the one in Eden had “resulted in excellent growth and an impressive rate of return visitation”.
P&O Australia’s Pacific Explorer will be the first ship to use the new wharf this month, arriving on 15 September.
